Huge congratulations to the Black Swan at Oldstead in North Yorkshire, who have been officially named as the best Restaurant in the World! The poll was carried out by TripAdvisor based on customer reviews and is the first time a British restaurant has won the title.
The Black Swan is a family owned pub based near Thirsk. It’s run by the UK’s youngest Michelin star chef Tommy Banks and also holds 4 AA Rosettes. The Banks family took over in 2006 when it was a struggling village pub, so to turn it into the best restaurant on the planet is testament to their achievements.
It’s refreshing to hear such positive news from the Pub and restaurant sector in Yorkshire where competition for trade is fierce. We wish Tommy and the team all the best for the future, they should be proud to have put Oldstead in Yorkshire firmly on the map.
