Yorkshire is Home to the Best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK

A huge congratulations to Millers Fish and Chip shop in Haxby which has been voted the best Fish and Chip Shop in the UK!  Following on from the Black Swan at Olstead winning the best restaurant in the world last year, Millers has managed to beat 10,500 competitors to scoop the prestigious title.  Is Yorkshire becoming the food capital of the UK?

The National Fish and Chip awards are carried out by Seafish, who are a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) set up by the Fisheries Act 1981 to improve efficiency and raise standards across the seafood industry.  Special mention should also go to Towngate Fisheries in Idle, Bradford, who won the NFFF Fish and Chip Quality ‘National Champion’ Award, Mister C’s in Selby who were the National Winners of the ‘From Field to Frier Award’ and The Marcia Inn at Bishopthorpe who were National Winners for ‘Best Foodservice Operator’ Award.

This was the 30th year the awards have been held and it certainly shows that Yorkshire is the best county in the UK to experience the finest Fish and Chips in the country.
