We hear a lot of customers saying that their equipment which has broken down is their only one and they rely on it heavily. Sometimes the make and model requires a part to be ordered and depending on the brand the part can be sourced overnight or it can take a few days.
If it’s the only fridge or freezer in the kitchen then this can have financial ramifications as food has to be either used immediately or lost through needless wastage. We would advise all our customers to have a Plan ‘B’ for every eventuality. For example, if you only have one freezer then invest in a small chest freezer which could be used in case of emergencies, the same with only having one fridge, buy an undercounter fridge which could be used for a short period of time.
It’s a similar story with cooking equipment, if you always fry fish on a Friday and you only have one fryer then invest in a low cost, plug and play table top option which can be easily stored and brought out in case of emergencies. If it’s a crucial piece of Commercial Catering equipment then it’s sensible to have a back-up option to keep the kitchen running as normal.
